@mallory @cwebber The Supreme Court judgement changed the definition of the protected characteristic of sex, but didn't modify the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, which still exists. It means that if you ban trans people from single-sex spaces, you still have to provide a space for them otherwise you'll be discriminating against people with the protected characteristic of gender reassignment, which effectively means that gender neutral toilets are required.

@cwebber That sounds like gender-neutral toilets are going to be required, since gender reassignment is still a protected characteristic and the European Convention on Human Rights still applies.

(Also, could you please post the original unarchived link? I'm getting blocked by cloudflare so I can't actually read that article.)

@nay @sneexy @gen

Pleroma/Akkoma permanently hates your account as it considers suspensions non-reversible, meaning you can’t federate with them unless you ask every instance to nuke your user

Has anyone reported this as a bug? I can’t think of a good reason why suspensions should be irreversible.

@benjojo Probably because that list of years is not continuous. 1979 - 1944 would also include 1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1990.

Recently I went on a plane for the first time since 2019. The plane took off around sunset and because we were flying northeast it lasted quite a long time. I took some photos of the sunset from the window of the plane during takeoff.

@elly @otter Perhaps it would be a good idea to write down/remember all these sorts of things and then say them all just before you finish school, at which point teachers have no more ability to fuck you over so it doesn't matter. (Although I don't actually do this myself, it's too difficult to not say things immediately.)

@WiteWulf @John @benjojo Fun fact: Virgin Media's DPI parses HTTP headers case-sensitively. "Host: sci-hub.wf" (for example) will get blocked, while "hOsT: sci-hub.wf" won't. Unfortunately this is quite useless as most websites use HTTPS and this doesn't work there (presumably they use SNI, at least for websites behind cloudflare and similar things, so ECH should solve this)

In the last few seconds before doing so becomes illegal, I would like to state that I approve of breaking into RAF bases and spraying paint on planes.

It is a non-violent form of protest and is certainly not terrorism.

After midnight, my official position on this shall be the same as Israel's position on whether they have nuclear weapons - everyone knows they do, but they won't admit it.

@evan LLM scraper bots are a big problem. They crawl the whole website including expensive-to-generate pages such as git blames, and in many cases ignore robots.txt, use browser user-agents, and come from residential IP addresses.

@q66 @famfo @jn @domi @tufo @merlin I don't know about others but the wifi card is replaceable in every thinkpad supported by coreboot/libreboot, although all of them except T480/T480s have a wifi card whitelist in the proprietary boot firmware.

The fact that the UK protests had to be renamed to "No Tyrants" sort of underscores the need for no kings.
