@kemona_halftau I wish vp9/av1 had better software encoders/decoders. my thinkpad x200 can't decode 25fps 1080p av1 in real time and libvpx-vp8/libvpx-vp9 have always been incredibly slow at encoding because google doesn't seem to care about software encoding performance (libsvtav1 encoding performance was quite impressive when I tested on more modern (with AVX2) x86_64 though (faster than libx265), less so on power9)

@seabass @bearmine it's both, and the technical issues are in some cases caused by systemd developers insisting on being wrong about things (e.g. lennart insisting that usernames beginning with digits aren't allowed based on one distro (fedora)'s rules for adduser (despite useradd and POSIX both allowing them), and for years refusing to support musl because glibc is the standard ABI for Linux (it's not, the Linux syscall ABI is, glibc is the standard for GNU/Linux))

I thought it might be because of the wiring of my RJ45<->DB9 serial cable adapter (maybe it's not a null modem cable and it needs to be?), and destroyed it while trying to rewire it

I selected "Boot to SMS menu" and I have no idea how I'm supposed to interact with it (no output on the serial port), but at least it gets further than last time!
