Also @noisytoot@mice.tel in case chinchillas eat the cables

@asnev I use Guix on my main laptop (a ThinkPad T440p). Everything works fine with Linux-libre except for the wifi and bluetooth (Intel AX210, using the iwlwifi and btintel drivers). To get around this I apply patches to those drivers to re-enable firmware loading and package the proprietary firmware in my own Guix channel. The patches I use are here (btintel) and here (iwlwifi), they’re generated just by diffing upstream Linux with Linux-libre to revert the changes to those specific drivers.

The reason I patch those two drivers instead of just using upstream Linux (which would reduce kernel build times because the deblobbing scripts are really slow, and remove the need to apply any patches) is so I automatically get minor kernel updates without having to update my kernel package, and because I’m not sure if Linux-libre removes any actual blobs or just firmware loading code (I suspect it may just be firmware loading code, in which case it’s a bit pointless since you can just not install the firmware). I use the LTS releases (currently 6.18) to avoid having to rebase the patches (and redo my configs) too often. I don’t want to just use nonguix because I don’t want other proprietary software to show up in guix search or be easily (accidentally) installable.

@ellis chaos is a great way to find bugs! I'm not sure what you mean by "changing of the server part of the mention" though

@mkljczk how hard would that be to implement? I couldn't find any mention of that feature in iceshrimp.net's documentation

is there a way to see what NoScript is actually blocking here? I don't notice anything missing, and technically everything but remote media is being loaded from my LAN (but from a publicly routable IP address)

I muted a conversation in akkoma fe to test something and had to use nicolium to unmute it because I couldn't find the post again because it was muted and that apparently hides posts from search results too in akkoma fe

@Wolkensteine @Transbian_Arsonists @Pouet @catsalad @InfosecFemthing @alice @Korawolfsrain @owashe @asahi @cheeseburgerally @lunya @emilvolk @gwenthefops @ellis @ActuallyAubrey @CatAClock I could see the alt text, yeah. lgbtqia.space used to completely block the UK and apparently this resulted in weird broken one-way federation (but at the time my instance was hosted in Canada so I didn't notice that). At some point before I moved my instance to a server at home, that was removed, but the CDN it uses continues to block the UK by GeoDNS. I have a VPS in London with geoip in Ireland that I've been planning to set up a recursive DNS server on which would allow me to bypass GeoDNS blocks without significantly increasing DNS lookup latency, but I haven't done that yet.

@makuru @byte I fell asleep after reading this post and I had a dream where the kayak was selected as a symbol of communism to replace the hammer and sickle for some reason

there was something about the kayak being the historical symbol of communism before the USSR adopted the hammer and sickle (which is of course not true, but it was a dream)

@Wolkensteine @Transbian_Arsonists @Pouet @catsalad @InfosecFemthing @alice @owashe @arti @asahi @cheeseburgerally @lunya @emilvolk @ReignOfRaining @gwenthefops @ellis @ActuallyAubrey @CatAClock you must've deactivated/suspended/banned/deleted your account at some point. pleroma and akkoma don't currently differentiate between local and remote suspensions, so if you suspend your account it permanently breaks federation for your account with pleroma/akkoma instances (and maybe other implementations too) unless an admin on the remote instance manually unsuspends your account

@Wolkensteine's account was deactivated on my instance for some reason (must've been an accidental self-suspension because I didn't do it), I manually reactivated it and now I can see his posts!
