Also @noisytoot@mice.tel in case chinchillas eat the cables
@kemona_halftau @benjae it also has an IRC client which is configured to connect to libera (formerly freenode) by default and somehow is so easy to misconfigure to log in with SASL when you don't actually have an account that for years it was a cause of annoyance that random thunderbird users who had the same username as you would try to log into your account and cause SaslServ to spam you with failed login messages

(I don't remember if they finally fixed that or if libera disabling failed login notifications by default just made people stop complaining)

@ellie also lack of good support for multi-codepoint glyphs: nothing can agree on the width (various terminal emulators and terminal-using programs all disagree), which results in my terminal getting messed up every time someone uses a multi-codepoint emoji on IRC. lots of stuff uses wcwidth, which is insufficient for proper unicode support

@ellie terminfo and its database being wrong. there is no correct entry for konsole: with TERM=konsole-256color, clear doesn’t clear scrollback (because the escape code to do that is missing), and with TERM=xterm-256color that works but some other stuff is broken (I forgot what)

even if I fixed this locally, it would still be broken and need to be updated on every system I SSH to

@kemona_halftau @maddy they should make it as easy to reset as dell do on their desktops (where there's just a jumper to reset it)

at least bootguard is broken on that generation so in a few years someone will probably port coreboot to it and you'll be able to bypass it that way (or if you ever want to port coreboot, I can help)

@maddy I was going to suggest installing libreboot (which would probably increase the resale value and mean that Autopilot status wouldn't matter), but it appears that that exact model isn't supported in coreboot yet (if you want to try porting it though, I can help)

@seabass apparently Qt 6 supports surviving a compositor crash on wayland but GTK doesn't (although gwenview didn't survive either and actually segfaulted)

@seabass usually it's plasmashell that crashes and that's easy to recover from just by restarting it, but this time every graphical program died except somehow konsole

@kemona_halftau I've never heard of a mouse using CB radio frequencies before, I thought they were all 2.4GHz.

How come reading the boot flash (with flashprog -p internal -r test.rom) succeeds on my server even though I should have /dev/mem protection enabled (kernel compiled with CONFIG_STRICT_DEVMEM=y, CONFIG_IO_STRICT_DEVMEM=y, and not booted with iomem=relaxed), but not on my laptop or any other device I tried on?

@kemona_halftau you get a /56 but another customer also gets the same /56 (I heard that google fiber does this)
