@evan They serve different purposes. An IRC channel is good for questions that aren't covered by documentation and aren't bug reports.

@mcc I read it as Embedded Controller

@evan What would you rather use instead? A mailing list?

I don't like it when they use discord because I won't be able to join but I like IRC (but I have a bouncer, so staying connected for a long time isn't an issue)

@kemona_halftau meow

@algernon Why those specific distros? Adélie Linux supports it. It's not Alpine but it uses the same package manager.

@algernon is it a PowerPC mac? Linux still supports ppc32

@kuriko one of those Intel N100 (or similar) mini-PCs from Aliexpress? some of the topton ones (X2E N150) are supported by coreboot too

@whitequark what is it using rot13 for?

@diffie if you don’t want to use ethtool (or just want to get the speed/duplex with no other info) you can also use /sys/class/net/<interface>/speed and /sys/class/net/<interface>/duplex (speed will be -1 and duplex unknown if nothing is plugged in)

@diffie for me ethtool does show current connection speed and duplexness (as just "Speed" and "Duplex", which is Unknown if nothing is plugged in)

@kemona_halftau the best CPU

Thanks for the helpful auto-complete, Gmail.

Gender segregation in public toilets and changing rooms is a weak and cisheteronormative substitute for well-designed stalls with actual privacy.

I had a dream that Mozilla were bullied into including a toggle in Firefox that disables all the corpo bullshit (so no tracking, ads, AI, etc.) but they were really pissy about it so they called it "communism mode" and you had to click on a little Karl Marx to activate it

also yes, i am using "attention all units" as a replacement for "ladies and gentlemen"

✅ it sounds funny
✅ it attracts attention much better than some boring ass phrase from centuries ago
✅ not only it includes enbies and agenders, it also includes robots
✅ it makes you feel like you're in some action film

@kemona_halftau good night!
