I wrote some code to generate a random name out of some of the wordchunks I had edited already and it resulted in this

@kemona_halftau interesting. if I refresh/toggle regional results on and off I sometimes get slightly different results, but it's always your youtube channel as the first result (with the other half tau channel and random videos from it further down)

@kemona_halftau the first result on duckduckgo is actually your youtube channel (followed by a random post on a random fedi instance)

urgent mutual aid due to earthquake, doing this on behalf of my partner
Show content

yesterday we suffered a very strong earthquake here in Venezuela. we’re physically safe, but @alasky was the most affected due to damages caused by being on the affected area (we live in separate states).

i’m doing this post so i can help him out to take care of these, to buy food, and to keep some reserves in case he has to take a trip to somewhere safer (which is likely).

any help is truly appreciated!

edit: really appreciating all the help this has been receiving, and all the shares around. hope everyone is doing well đź«‚

A vulnerability in ffmpeg allows remote code execution via a crafted media file https://www.securityweek.com/ffmpeg-pixelsmash-flaw-allows-rce-on-video-players-media-servers-nas-appliances/

This affects anything that would even try to generate a *thumbnail*, and that includes your file browser, your fedi server, etc etc etc.

EDIT: Replies have pointed out that ASLR needed to be disabled for the exploit to work, so it may not be quite as exploitable as the press release makes it sound. Not sure. (At least, not without many retries.) At any rate, look forward to deploying the fix.

@thatgalsilver @kemona_halftau @maddy do you just mean the word filter (which combined with not enabling "hide word-filtered posts" results in requiring an extra click to open cw'd word filtered posts)? other than that, I only see "Collapse posts with content warnings" and a list of things to ask for confirmation for that does not include opening content warnings

@lunareclipse RSA 4096 is still vulnerable to Shor's algorithm, so no (there's no current quantum computer capable of breaking RSA 4096, but there's no current quantum computer capable of breaking Ed25519 either)
