Also @noisytoot@mice.tel in case chinchillas eat the cables
@evacide is there some context that I'm missing (what did the Washington Post do)?

in case someone else encounters this: force-reloading only fixes it temporarily (if you reload normally it'll be broken again), a more permanent solution without having to log out and log back in is to unregister the service worker in about:serviceworkers (assuming you use firefox or one of its forks)

just got CC'd in an insane email along with a bunch of other kernel devs, seems like someone went off the deep end with chatGPT. Documented it in a Gist, anyone have any theories? XD

I would recommend jumping to line 490 for the weirdest bits https://gist.github.com/kcxt/2489f17398cd1ea10da8be516323582d#file-prepare_our_fighters_100k_1_million_30_million-c-L490

wtf why does updating the instance document break all media loading on akkoma-fe? very weird

I ended up just installing it standalone to avoid the CSP errors (there were more CSS-related ones, and it's probably better to install it standalone anyway to make it easier to switch frontends) and it is indeed quite nice!

@kemona_halftau I think CSP is breaking it: Content-Security-Policy: The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource (media-src) at data: because it violates the following directive: “media-src 'self' https:”. unfortunately that seems to be hardcoded in akkoma

@kemona_halftau I just tried installing it again and I still can't get it to display anything but a blank page

yet another linux LPE. idk if there's a mitigation. I only noticed because gentoo patched it

Scary "Grampus" Jerry 👻

If you run a peertube instance and have not patched in the past 4 hours, you are way behind and likely have been compromised. The latest patch will help clean up the mess.

an unscientific survey boosts_ok_gay

(if you use both choose whatever is on the system you use most)

59% use systemd
40% does not use systemd

@ielenia neither of the laptops I mainly use have systemd (one is guix with shepherd, the other is alpine with openrc), but I use it on servers (debian and gentoo)

I'm somewhat regretting using systemd on my gentoo server (which I installed relatively recently, but before I knew that systemd was slopified) but at this point I'm stuck with it because it's going to be very difficult to switch away without reinstalling or breaking everything
