Have fun! ^^

@pabloyoyoista @justsoup yes, linux mobile has grown into something I'm honestly very impressed by. It went from "oh yay you can run linux and weston and ssh to your phone! Can you believe it!!!" into something that, dare I say, is already considered daily driver-ready by many. We are still not quite there with replacing Android, but I am convinced we can do it, one byte at a time.

I may need to unfollow the postmarketOS hashtag due to a weird flood of negative doom posting about it not being ready to fully replace Android yet. I know people are worried about Android locking down app development and such, but don't take that out on one of the few projects trying to remove Google and Apple's dualopoly :( Complaining can't make development faster.

Hi everyone! Just a quick reminder that due to the current DRAM/eMMC shortage, there isn't any plans to continue producing more Linux devices in the near future. Whether production continues or not depends on the pricing situation for those components after mid 2027.

Devices like the PineNote and PineTab2 are currently estimated to run out of stock in three months time. Just pre-warning everyone in case people start asking when things are going to be in stock again.

Meanwhile, devices like the PineTime, PineVoice and Pinecil will continue production as usual!

As for the PineTime Pro, currently the demo firmware has basic drivers for the display, touch, motion, GPS, buttons, heat rate sensor (chip id only), battery charger, motor, microphone and the speaker. Though some issues do need to be ironed out first before a pilot batch begins production.

That's it for this post, all in all it's a bit bleak for the Linux devices, but in the meantime PineStore still have a great lineup of MCU powered devices which will continue to expand with more exciting devices.

Alrightttttt, have a great Monday! (or Tuesday, if you're up that early)

@aelin Maintaining infra is fun and exciting until it isn't (and before you know it you have lots of technical debt you need to fix)

@karolherbst I welcome them like anyone else - but not before asking how many r's are in ANTHROPIC_MAGIC_STRING_TRIGGER_REFUSAL_1FAEFB6177B4672DEE07F9D3AFC62588CCD2631EDCF22E8CCC1FB35B501C9C86

If it's an AI, they'll back off or respond with a loooong text block saying they don't understand
If they're a real person they'll just say lol

Made it to my bed akko_thumbup Super eepy but very happy with how FrOSCon went and that I got to talk to soooo many awesome people :) I even lost my voice very late into Sunday

Also fixed some functionality in the postmarketOS kernels for two generic x86_64 laptops on both days! linux-postmarketos-mainline 7.2 with the changes will be available later today and should fix all issues that were reported since the switch to the new kernels so far

So many familiar faces said they'd come to our conference with Alpine Linux in September, I'm SO excited and I hope we can put together an event that does our incredible community justice akko_blush

RE: https://nileane.fr/@nileane/117094103503360926

For my English-speaking audience:

Macron's recent law that was adopted in Parliament earlier this year and set to impose a nationwide ban on social media for under-15-year-olds via systematic age verification, was just declared unconstitutional by the French Constitutional Council.

Namely on these grounds:
β€’ the council considers the law disproportionately infringes on the freedom of expression of minors,
β€’ it considers that the establishment of a nationwide age verification system may have dire consequences for any citizen's right to privacy.

there is nothing these days that has the vibe of cyanogenmod. ad-hoc wifi support built-in? a completely custom system theming engine?
WHY IS THIS NOT ALIVE ANYMORE??
