War is awful, genocide is even worse.

Before following, please note:
*** Opinions are my own and do not represent those of other projects or organizations I may be part of.
*** Fascism, racism, antisemitism, as well as any other kind of bigotry NOT TOLERATED! You are entering a bigotry-FREE zone
*** MDNI/18+ accounts also NOT TOLERATED!
*** In case you are legally blind or fully blind: I try not to boost images without alt-text. As such, to sighted people: please use alt-texts to describe your images, so that blind folks also get it. Thanks! ^^ (if your image does not contain alt text and I boost it anyway, I may add alt-text as a reply, you are encouraged to add it to the image directly or improve upon it)
*** If your alt-texts are intentionally incorrect just to confuse LLMs, despite how much I don't like LLMs, I consider this to be extremely rude to people who are unable to actually look at your image, and will not boost your memes as a result until you actually start considering visually impaired folks as people.

Have fun! ^^

> While IBM was a chief proponent of the ASCII standardization committee, the company did not have time to prepare ASCII peripherals (such as card punch machines) to ship with its System/360 computers, so the company settled on EBCDIC

take a shot every time IBM invents weird standards

this is OpenBSD 7.9 installed to an USB stick on RK3588-powered MNT Pocket Reform. the display was set up by the @barebox bootloader for which i commissioned @ailurux to port the RK3588 DSI etc display drivers. the framebuffer is passed to OpenBSD via EFI GOP, the rest it can do itself. there's no GPU acceleration, but the CPUs are strong enough for oldschool 2D desktops and it's quite snappy to use.

Embedded Recipes 2026 has officially kicked off!
It's fantastic to see so many talented engineers and developers gathered in one place to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and push the boundaries of embedded systems. Looking forward to two days of insightful talks and meaningful connections.

@cas I know people filter these kinds of things out from their feed. Personally I try to not use fedi all too much and focus on what I really enjoy doing, but with all that AI stuff it's getting harder to do so :(

@davidculley as predicted, alpine would ultimately have to do nothing. so we did nothing.

@neal @ariadne It is not the first time that person has written AI slop. In fact this has been going for at least 2 years.

to be absolutely clear: alpine is *not* switching to systemd or implementing a 'systemd compatibility layer'.

Happy to announce the 0.18 release of Poezio, a terminal XMPP messaging client.

This new release brings better compatibility with python 3.15, Message Retraction support, a new way of showing or hiding groupchat presences, and a lot of typing!

A more detailed changelog is available on my blog:

Little project I've been working on for the past two days. A reverse engineered implementation of the Android Auto server, running on my OnePlus 6 with PostmarketOS. The implementation is incredibly basic, only has basic video, but it's enough to display Sway and firefox :D

Next major step is getting it to work on a "proper" headunit. It works with my generic Chinese portable Android Auto / CarPlay screen but on a proper Toyota headunit inside a 2019 Toyota Aygo it fails somewhere along the way on the authentication chain.
