*** Opinions are my own and do not represent those of other projects or organizations I may be part of.
*** Fascism, racism, antisemitism, as well as any other kind of bigotry NOT TOLERATED! You are entering a bigotry-FREE zone
*** MDNI/18+ accounts also NOT TOLERATED!
*** In case you are legally blind or fully blind: I try not to boost images without alt-text. As such, to sighted people: please use alt-texts to describe your images, so that blind folks also get it. Thanks! ^^ (if your image does not contain alt text and I boost it anyway, I may add alt-text as a reply, you are encouraged to add it to the image directly or improve upon it)
*** If your alt-texts are intentionally incorrect just to confuse LLMs, despite how much I don't like LLMs, I consider this to be extremely rude to people who are unable to actually look at your image, and will not boost your memes as a result until you actually start considering visually impaired folks as people.

Have fun! ^^

@eloy I always tend to hate it when some person brings up digital sovereignty and is like "yeah we at europe need software and infra in europe and open source in europe!!!!"

They just don't understand how open source works, open source has no barriers with regards to continents or countries. Everyone can and does contribute.

As for infra in Europe, they also completely miss the point. The *main* issue is centralised infra controlled by governments *IN GENERAL*, it not being american does not make the issue somehow less severe.

Welcome to politics, where politicians debate about stuff they have literally zero idea about.

Yet another day of screaming at digital enshitiffication:

1. My coworkers and I are in a car driving to FOSDEM.
2. We pull up to charge the car.
3. Charging station REQUIRES you to use an app, no option to just pay with a card.
4. We try to install the stupid app. We carry phones running:
- GrapheneOS
- GrapheneOS
- GrapheneOS
- LineageOS, postmarketOS, iOS
5. Neither of our phones meet requirements to install the stupid app (Play Integrity API).
6. My iPhone can't install the app, because it's "Not available in your country".
7. We give up and drive to another charging station.

This is NOT how you introduce applications, "Circle K" akko_scream

@karolherbst free software is literally a political movement after all, 'apolitical' means nothing if you work on free software

Nvidia, you can't just say in an interview that you rebuilt the chain-of-trust on the Tegra X1, working around the bootrom exploit, without telling us how!

interesting: have adopted apk as their system package manager: https://www.qnx.com/developers/docs/qnxeverywhere/com.qnx.doc.qdd/topic/using_apk.html

and they use now too: https://github.com/qnx-ports/qsc-apk/tree/main

and they even comply with the GPL license, but their patch is not mergable in the current state: https://github.com/qnx-ports/aports/blob/803/core/apk-tools/0001-qnx-compat.patch

@ariadne Do some writes crash and others not? Or all writes cause a crash?

@ariadne Typically a write to protected memory results in a crash, so I don't think it is a security bug, it's working as intended.

(this should also be the case for reads)

Nice overview article of about @postmarketOS a The distribution for mobile phones and beyond... based on @z3ntu recent talk. Great to see how fast is proceeding with their limited resources.

@justsoup linux went a long way.
I still have (IIRC) ubuntu 9.04 somewhere, and comparing it to linux now .. I feel extremely happy it has more users and is more intuitive than before (which is not to say I don't like 9.04, I do love its desktop :)
