really, really impressed with posty: a mastodon archive -> html static site generator
it ingests your mastodon archive (post history) as a zip, and barfs out an entire static html site with indices and tags. all servable with any standard web server.
this is super helpful because when i shut down the dialup.cafe instance, there was no easy way to get access to my old posts and images.

the *only* interface on a linux phone that i have ever resonated with is #SXMO. it is, bluntly, the alpine of phone interfaces.
but i need slack, 1password, banking apps, etc.

BTW, Waydroid isn't really a compatibility layer, it runs fully-fledged android inside an lxc container basically. ATL (Android-Translation-Layer) is a compat layer

@ariadne what I generally don't see is these people proposing any kind of solution that's not just "let's go back to the way things were before" as if sysvinit and X11 were not full of flaws that prompted a replacement to be developed in the first place

It's also tiring how these kinds of people just keep complaining a lot, but when you look further you basically realise that they have nothing else to contribute. Yes, systemd is not perfect. Yes, it has its drawbacks. But these people aren't doing anything to fix those.

@karolherbst i find that people who only have "anti" energy to offer aren't really offering anything useful to the commons.
is systemd the best option for everyone? of course not. nothing will ever be the best option for *everyone*. but instead of making that case, the anti-systemd crowd talk about how anti-systemd they are instead. it's tiring.

There are two really interesting data points in that article.
1) execs are far more excited about AI than all other workers and are using AI more than anyone else
2) mediocre performers feel much higher benefit from AI while top performers find it more of a problem than a help
I'll leave the conclusion as an exercise for the reader ...

What I like with apk (and alpine in general) is that as long as you have apk.static, busybox.static and /etc/apk/world you can recover from almost anything.
