@maddy I think it's a MFM parsing bug in Akkoma, I can reproduce it in MFM but not in ordinary Markdown. It seems to be misinterpreting the underscores as italics.

@noisytoot I’ve seen it mangle emotes that other mutuals have posted, back when I was using Akkoma full-time. I always wondered what the hell was going on.

On one hand PopOS fucked up their package dependency tree in an incomprehensible way, on the other hand Linus looked at the “This operation is going to break your system, if you’re really sure you want to break your system type in “Yes I do in fact want to break my system”” prompt and went “ok sure seems good”

The former should not be an issue that happens in a widely used distribution at any point whatsoever, the latter points to a few missing brain cells and that’s hilarious
