will need to reboot because of a memory leak soon, but i kinda wanna see what the oom killer decides to do once i run out of ram

@kemona_halftau memory leak in init? I had one of those on my server and still managed at least 54 days of uptime (by which time shepherd was using >51% of RAM)

what I would expect to happen is the oom killer does nothing and the system just freezes, because that's what it does even in normal cases when the program using a lot of memory isn't immune to the oom killer

@noisytoot i’m assuming it’s a framebuffer memory leak with the plasma 5.27 wayland session, since it seems to gradually crawl up when playing videos or games, or just scrolling around a lot

@noisytoot when i’m on (somewhat old) cinnamon or xfce (both also packaged from linux mint/ubuntu 24.04 and linked against library versions in /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ (my linux installation is a disaster)) the memory usage stays low
