@rebane2001 ignoring the eyesearing button, wait, what’s that under that?!?
a…social media…requiring passport or national ID…sounds 10x worse than facebook already is…

@6 @rebane2001 it's just a shitty bluesky PDS with mandatory id verification that they somehow convinced (bribed?) a load of EU politicians into using and promoting. I don't see why anyone would willingly use this when they could use literally any other PDS

@noisytoot @rebane2001 why would you use that when you could use truth.social instead!!!
also politicians are kinda the only people I see it appealing to because they already have to be public figures in every way, and their accounts considered public too, so like, THEY don’t have anything to lose anyway, they already post under full name, and hey, if anyone badmouths you, you can easily threaten to send them to court (whether or not you will) to shut them up! and have verifiable proof that it was that legal person’s account! >:D
win-win for them!

@rebane2001 oh also reminds me of a cool trick
use your ID card as an ssh key, or gpg key >:3
you can grab any estonian’s public key(s) using LDAP
you can use ssh by just pointing it to use the right pkcs11 library or so
you do need a middle step to convert the key into ssh format, but that’s not too hard either, iirc it’s in base64 DER, just need a bit of wrangling to convert it, haven’t done it in a bit, but ssh-keygen can convert PEM to openssh format
iirc similar setup works for gpg also (tho ofc you can’t edit the certs on card)
