can anyone help me in getting the rtw8821ce wireless card to work in gentoo?
i modprobe’d the needed modules, the network IFs are available, but they neither go up nor NM can use them

@thing is there anything relevant in dmesg? it sounds like you might be missing firmware

@noisytoot lspci -nnk says the drivers are loaded
ip l[ink] sees the interfaces, but cannot make them go up
NetworkManager straight up says they’re unavailable

@thing have you checked that wifi isn't disabled with rfkill? that's the only other thing I can think of

@thing on my thinkpad x200 sometimes wifi would stop working because I accidentally changed the position of the physical wifi disable switch

@thing if you have firmware installed and it’s not rfkill and there’s nothing in dmesg then I have no idea. does it show up in iw list? maybe that has something relevant
