@noisytoot oh nvm i had assumed technology connections was on peertube, doesnt seem like it though

@noisytoot at least not officially. there is a mirror channel but it only has a few videos on it

@noisytoot speaking of which i should probably find more mirror channels for yt channels i watch. invidious breaking has been a big motivator for me to finally leave youtube behind and primarily use peertube for video content

i just wish the video/audio formats used for most of those mirror channels (and possibly peertube in general but im not sure) wasnt h264 and aac, even youtube at least uses vp9/av1 and opus which uses much less bandwidth and are open formats

@kemona_halftau I wish vp9/av1 had better software encoders/decoders. my thinkpad x200 can't decode 25fps 1080p av1 in real time and libvpx-vp8/libvpx-vp9 have always been incredibly slow at encoding because google doesn't seem to care about software encoding performance (libsvtav1 encoding performance was quite impressive when I tested on more modern (with AVX2) x86_64 though (faster than libx265), less so on power9)

@noisytoot im still very happy that the 2 channels i currently watch the most (themaritimegirl and vwestlife) are both on peertube
