im not one of those people who purposely keep them off because they are conspiracy theorists who think the government is controlling them, i do it cuz im in quiet spaces often and dont want to cause issues, and well now bcuz the gov abuse them

@noisytoot basically they think its government propaganda like how north korea has radios in their homes blasting propaganda, or something like that

for me i just hate the loud noise (and that theres no way to disable only the loud noise but still receive alerts) and the fact that when i hear it i get all worked up like my area is about to be invaded or bombed only to figure out its not got anything to do with my area which isnt at risk at all and this has now just inconvenienced my autistic brain for the next 12 hours

these things shouldnt be national either and no one seems to get that

@ElliesSurviving I think this was the first national alert (excluding tests). I received it twice for some reason and turned them off after the second. I think software should add support for having them delivered just as an ordinary notification as well as regex filtering for alerts.

I don't understand how anyone can think it's government propaganda unless they have never actually received an alert themselves or even did any research whatsoever into it (there's a list of past alerts on the government website and every single alert has either been about either about weather, flooding, a test, or a bomb (in one case))

@noisytoot i just ended up disabling them and adding them as an RSS feed instead which updates every few minutes, is way slower by comparison but it does mean i still get alerted but not alarmed, which is what i want
