i have muted at least 20 different users with the reason “unreadable typing quirk”
please can we please stop this shit please
it doesnt do anything but break screen readers, post translation, etc, and makes it so people with, say, dyslexia (such as myself), cannot make out a single fucking word

i am already known as the person who is against the usage of the “is bot” tag for non-automated accounts
and i will GLADLY be known as the person who hates unintelligible typing quirks
(kemona_halftau)
i will die on this hill
@kemona_halftau people should bbe allowed to type how they want, just like how you should be allowed to mute them i think
- posted by Seraphine@kemona_halftau 100% agree with both
@noisytoot @kemona_halftau putting like 2 or 3 spaces between every word maybe? it's still readable to me but annoying
@kemona_halftau other than foxi sounds mine's mostly fine right

That person exists? Oh no.

Meanwhile I’ve been known go back and edit posts or comments if I make that mistake accidentally because seeing it drives up the goddamn wall.
I think that’s fair enough really. I may know one source of them, that being homestuck roleplayers since homestuck itself uses a lotttt of unreadable typing quirks, but other than that I see no real reason they’d be used on fedi, especially given how many people who take advantage of screen readers are on here.
@kemona_halftau to be fair that post was more about the people who type out random ass characters in between their words so it just reads as incomprehensible repetitive gibberish
modern screen readers are equipped to handle regular typing quirks and misspellings and all that, so it's not really a problem
@kemona_halftau you missing out a comma, spelling a word wrong, using the wrong letter, or using the wrong order, really won't harm the readability as much, if at all, really
but if you do character spam or use some of those "stylized text" copypaste thingies on the internet then that's a different story altogether

@freeplay you also have a disclaimer in your bio stating that your posts might not all be screen-reader friendly, that in and of itself is much better than most accounts
