The Amsterdam foot is about 8% shorter than an English foot. [1]
@ezri i mean, amsterdam is just 6 hours away,,,
@ptrc ... we ordered in "ponden" (pounds) a few days ago, which thankfully is metricised to 500g
and is the customary unit you order meat or cheese (and sometimes vegetables) in in a full service store.....
we probably had not done so in like a decade.....
@helle @ptrc there is also a metricised https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catty , and fruit and vegetables in farmer's markets are only using this unit
@ptrc but the Amsterdam woman is about 8% longer than an English woman
@helle oh huh! i'm now terrified of amsterdam and their units
one Dutch mile or mijl (mijl) = about 5½–6¼ km
im sorry why is there a range of possible values here lmao
@helle ohhhhh because it was defined as 20000 feet but people have different foot sizes, of course
