This still bothers me. I wasn't even trying to debate/argue anyone, I have legitimate issue with getting addicted to things. I don't understand why that warrants the replies I got. Am I wrong? Did I do something wrong? I admit I did get "trolled" or whatever this is, but I expected no reply at all (which would have been fine!)

I guess they just did not want to read what I say? Though my replies were not aimed to them at first place, I just didnt think of removing the tag.

@aks I think the guy decided that you every anti-ai argument is wrong based on the fact that "progress bro" or something, not sure.
And anti-ai sentiments are not even up for discussion because "bleah sentiments, I only care about logic".
The whole thing was a trap from the start, probably set up unconsciously.

The whole start of the conversation was very snowflake "why don't they like what I like, and they say it's bad when it's inevitable. Everyone around me uses it so it's the future. Future always good". At no point there was a inch into discussing the actual legitimacy or usefulness of these tools, both were taken from granted. You went and started to undermine his belives and I guess he didn't have the capabilities of putting his own thoughts on the line and actually argue about the topic.
The whole post was just looking for validation, I think.

@aks Y'know, I'm pretty anti-ai for the most part, but I really agree with you there! A local model being used to double check your code and offer suggestions is SO MUCH more agreeable than what most use cloud Ai models for. But some people can't handle even mild criticism of the tech, and it sure seems like that dude is among them. So honestly, I'd just ignore 'em.

@baralheia yeah i just want people to use them with actual thought, and not give money to awful corporations.

@aks there is a reason I have this pinned to my account, a sloppist is always a waste of time and energy to talk to. Also, that's the fucker that caused a shitload of systemd drama too? Should just block him cause he is clearly a bootheel of the industry. Honestly worth suspending him given his sustained behavior.

@aks What you did "wrong" was not conforming to bigtechism. It's the same bullshit I got put through that eventually ended with the local sloppist of the catlang discord saying the quiet part out loud: "align or die"

@aks I held some hope for the same, but I have recently realized these people actually want to kill me and see me as mentally unwell for not emotionally validating them. The software freedom conservancy's AI recommendations made me suddenly realize what was already pretty obvious.

@aks @baralheia hah a friend has once made her own AI model trained exclusively on her IRC logs (with names scrubbed of course). It wasn't useful, but it was fun, kept doing funny jokes from what I recall.

Really, I'm not against the *technology* itself. I'm against the AI companies trying to takeover the world with this.
