did av1 software encoding get slower or did my pc get worse overnight

av1 is such a nice format i just wish i could use it

@kemona_halftau which encoder are you using? when I tested, libsvtav1 was the fastest by far, followed by libaom, followed by rav1e (ironically, since it claims to be the fastest)

you should also check if your CPU is thermal throttling or stuck at a lower frequency. for some reason, my laptop's CPU sometimes gets stuck at 800MHz and I have to suspend and unsuspend (or reboot) to fix it

i was using svt-av1 in the past but it seems after recompiling ffmpeg i disabled it when regenerating the config
