how long has sharkey had the replies-on-timeline bug? (specifically seeing replies from users you follow, even if they are not replying to anyone you follow)
(kemona_halftau)
i kinda wish there was a frontend/client-side script i could install to hide replies to posts from users i dont follow from appearing on my timeline with the exception of boosts
but at that point the script could also fix mutes and blocks with boosted posts and mentions, so why not just add that to the backend/server?
@kemona_halftau its a bug? i think this is already very long this way

@noisytoot 90% sure. if not then it is just bad design. the only options are having a user’s replies to ANY post be displayed in the timeline, or having a user’s replies to only their own posts be displayed in the timeline. preferably there would also be an option to show a user’s replies only to other users you follow in the timeline
(kemona_halftau)
@noisytoot the latter might be nice to have in *key as well
That’s always been a feature in every microblogging software ever. At least to my knowledge. I don’t think anyone’s thought of making a software show only replies from users you follow when they are replying only to other users you follow. It’d be a neat mode toggle to be fair, kind of like keeping a bubble, but people replying to people I don’t follow is exactly how I like to expand the people I follow in fairness, so I wouldn’t have a use for it.

@jded mastodon doesn’t do that, and from what i’ve heard akkoma has an option to at least make it behave like how mastodon does it
Pretty sure mastodon did that for me when I used it? Might’ve been an instance specific thing, my old instance was not the best before I came out and began selfhosting lmao.
