C-22, the anti-digital-privacy bill, passed the Canadian House https://globalnews.ca/news/11911957/lawful-access-bill-passes-privacy-liberals-tinfoil-hat/
This is bad. I don't even know what to say.
@cwebber Write to the senator of the relevant committee. They are being pressured, but their role is to be the sober second look, and there's still a chance they push back. They've already had the first reading (see https://www.parl.ca/LegisInfo/en/bill/45-1/c-22) so hurry.
@Canageek @cwebber https://sencanada.ca/en/content/sen/chamber/451/debates/086db_2026-06-18-e?language=e#30 has the details of the session that had its first reading, and the only action was to set the 2nd reading date (2 working days letter). At that reading it may get sent to committee. In the House it was heard by Public Safety and National Security. I would guess that in the Senate it might go to Transport and Communications (https://sencanada.ca/en/committees/trcm/45-1) which does telecom oversight.

Yes, but also no. It's time for us to get loud, call our representatives, and protest.
