all the good xmpp mobile clients going straight to hell for having no option to turn off read receipts

@noisytoot my mobile client is based on conversations (monocles) but i dont see it anywhere so this gotta be something new cus i was using conversations originally before i switched to monocles and i didnt see an option there either...

@niko I don't know when it was added but it's in Settings -> Privacy in Conversations 2.19.15+free at least

@noisytoot ohhh that thing. yeah its called something else in monocles, but the problem is i dont mind sending out read receipts to people who want to see them. but i don't want to see them myself because it makes me anxious and having to ask all my contacts to pretty please turn off sending them for me would be really annoying

that option only stops me from sending them, not the other way around. im the one who doesn't want to see them.

they always be adding an option for not sending them to others but im the one who dont want to see it. how is that fair?
