Learning that my Vantec NVMe M.2 to USB 3.whatever the hell (10Gbit) enclosure doesn’t properly pass device info the way my Linux system expects, so I can’t properly get TRIM working, and I can’t check SMART data to see how worn it is. 
I’m starting to get the feeling that anything USB is somewhat cursed.
@jacksonchen666 IMO USB-PD is great, though seeing chargers that just serve 12V or 20V without negotiation is definitely cursed.
@maddy @noisytoot i’ve definitely run into a drive that would expose SMART information over mass storage but not UAS. there’s a way to force linux to fall back to mass storage
@noisytoot @maddy i had to refresh my memory, it was apparently a sucky implementation from seagate so i guess that’s not generally applicable
