My heart weeps for the people of Iran. I hope that Trump’s bark is worse than his bite, though he has been unpredictable, so I don’t know what to expect. Those people don’t deserve this.

I’m so pissed that he pulled the US into more unnecessary bullshit and bloodshed, and FOR WHAT? To distract folks from the Epstein files? For some fucking power move? Because he can?! I don’t know.

@maddy it’s fucked up how much we’re repeating the same mistakes made in the rise of fascism the first time

a lot of time i’d read about history of the nazis or other fascist movements and wonder how so many were so stupid, short-sighted, and weak but now we all have a firsthand view of it

and we also normalized war crimes after 9/11 and then genocide after 10/7. made it easy to turn that against other countries, as well as turn it inward

i’ve cut off everyone i know in maga (and i’m lucky it wasn’t that many poeple) so i don’t know how they’re reacting to the iran war, but it was super scary seeing them become increasingly radicalized up to that point and i have no doubt that unless they’ve fallen out of the cult they’re supporting genocide right now

it is unreal to see people who were once kind, thoughtful, intelligent people to fall into the trump cult. i tried exhaustively to argue some of them out of it, but i got nowhere. it does seem like they’re under a magic spell as quickly and completely their behavior changed. but i guess the scary answer is that they always had this shitty aspect to them and trump just gave them permission to act on it

Ironically the current Iranian government is indirectly the US and UK’s fault (they overthrew the democratically elected government in 1953 because they wanted oil, which was later itself overthrown in 1979 and replaced with the current theocratic dictatorship)
