ice-cold take: FOSDEM should have 3x less people or be 3x the indoor size

@domi yep but the problem is that they are never getting another venue for free again, they are locked into the ULB forever

and I like that the event doesn't have tickets at all, but the downside is that you end up with this :')

@domi Yup.

I was at fosdem once, I think it was 13 years ago. I decided I liked the event and I would come back if they ever found a venue of the correct size.

Unfortunately, that is basically never.

@domi it really needs a quiet place to go when things get overwhelming, but with this many people i don’t know if that would work

@shuppy there’s barely any place to sit down, let alone quiet. i found the stairwells work okay but it shouldn’t be like this

@shuppy @domi with so many different themes spread across 2 days I wonder if it might work better as multiple smaller conferences more scoped in their theme and more spread out. Though obviously cost goes up quite a bit that way.

@shuppy @domi i found myself wishing for a place like this a few times today

@shuppy @domi Perhaps one of the non-FOSDEM parts of the campus that are still accessible? I walked through the lower floors of building U and there was hardly anyone there

@domi Sometimes I wonder if I'm just built for the cold :D

(Or maybe geeks need better than hoodie+tshirt but well I didn't need much better this time, I did take a proper jacket with me just in case though but it stayed at hotel)
