Another #FOSDEM advice: you won't find power outlets at the campus. Arrange so that your devices last through the day without getting plugged in.
@bagder π±
So i'll have to listen to the talks? Bullocks!
@mreichelt nah, the rooms are full anyway. Get yourself another drink and chat with people in one of the cafeterias. π
@bagder that's a good reminder to charge up my power bank, thanks!
@bagder lol - I feel this will be a very different conference experience than I'm used to! I never was at FOSDEM, so this will be a first for me.
I'd be happy to chat with you when we meet there!
@bagder
or be nice to the people at the stands, maybe they let You use their power in exchange for some stickers π
@bagder @mreichelt If you can get into them. Honestly, there have been fosdems I've gone hungry because food was unobtanium.
I won't be going this time, because I'm already to virused-up-cruddy, but my advice would be: * bring food, bring drink, * have pals you want to meet and go into brussels early after you've done the hallway track * don't try to attend any talk or dev room
Oh, and protect your shoes from projectile vomiting when going to Solbosch using public transport.
@bagder what are all the people with ~25 year old thinkpads to do π±
@mreichelt FOSDEM is truly like nothing else, but it's a great place packed with lovely people. Come find me and we'll chat!
@bagder @mreichelt yeah people traditionally camp the rooms with talks in the main buildings all the time
@bagder @mreichelt Oh, and if you're s a speaker, or even a keynote speaker -- don't bother to prepare.
Everyone in the audience will be busy getting drunk, being drunk, making out, coding while drunk or idly chatting on IRC.
Nobody will pay you any attention.
@bagder @mreichelt I was once invited, in a previous incarnation: https://archive.fosdem.org/2011/interview/boudewijn-rempt.html
@halla @bagder @mreichelt I don't know about cafeterias, but I was really positively surprised how easy it was to get lunch at the campus canteen.
