Could some linux friends please run ulimit -l and tell me what number it says and also how much RAM you have installed?

@maddy A mystery, my Ubuntu Desktop gets the same as your Arch, I also have 32GB of RAM.
Interesting that Server has it way higher, don’t fully understand what this value means anyway and the man page just says it’s deprecated

@Baa 8192 on every system I tested on (16GB + no swap on Guix System, 6GB + 6GB swap on Guix System, 32GB + no swap on Gentoo, 8GB + 4GB swap on Alpine), except the Debian ones (1016664 with 8GB RAM + 4GB swap, 489548 with 4GB RAM + no swap)
