i slightly broke my linux install a few months ago. now some packages randomly have unresolved shalibs. reinstalling all local packages did not help
instead of doing a full distro reinstall, I just send all broken packages into the purgatory in /opt/nheko_chroot
, named after the first package that dared to break, then I make them pretty little gravestones in ~/.local/bin/
, like
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/nheko_chroot/usr/lib exec /opt/nheko_chroot/usr/bin/nheko
by now my happy little place is ~25% of my main OS. uh oh.
“what did you do” my mere existence causes software to break and plead for mercy. D̸̡̞̞͝Ò̷̟͜ ̴̗̺̐̇͝N̷̨͚̦̈́Ò̵̽̀ͅT̸͎͙̂̑ ̴̱̎͜R̴̝̥̩̆E̶͇̝͉͊S̴̩̩͎͛̈́̇I̸̦͒̆S̵̢̍͝T̴̡͍̊̓͊
@weirdtreething thank you, it’s the intended response. you’re at a computer afterall
@weirdtreething counter argument i deserve to launch prismlauncher
@domi @weirdtreething dont be so hard on yourself... no one deserves to launch prismlauncher...
i really enjoy the fact that i turned my laptop on today and nheko started segfaulting. i shouldn’t have made fun of it, that made the Gods angry
@domi hey, at least it's not due to filesystem corruption, right?
@noisytoot @wolf480pl (driver debugging which i never disabled)
@domi maybe reconsider doing a reinstall
@weirdtreething @domi I am kind to the computer and in turn the computer is kind to me. I gently ask it to launch PrismLauncher and it does. I fight my programs in other Nix-related ways though.
