A thing that I like is how you say "no offense" immediately after you have said something extremely offensive. That is the only time people say it

@mcc it's just like when people say they could care less when they really mean they couldn't care less.

@onelson I could care so much less. People have no idea how much less I could care

@mcc That’s why I prefer “with all due respect,” since there typically is not very much respect due.

@mcc literally why would you say it at any other point? imagine going up to someone and saying "no offense, but I love your outfit"

@mia I actually preemptively apologize before giving people compliments. "Hope it's not weird to say this, but—" Not sure if this is mental illness.

@mcc I only ever say it when I want to be *sure* they knew I was intending offense. I hate it when you tell someone to fuck off cuz they're too fucking stupid to live and too fucking mean to love, and somehow they don't grasp that I *meant* it.

@GeePawHill @mcc "I hope you really take this to heart" is my favorite suffix for those situations just because I kind of hate the feeling of twisting my own words, genuinely a bad end for me when I start doing it. I also honestly appreciate that same level of directness from others because in the event I was really wrong on something "reasonable people can't disagree on" I learn faster

@onelson @mcc "I could care less" really annoys me. It's an Americanism that I had not heard of until I read https://xkcd.com/1576/, and even then I didn't realize it was an actual idiom rather than a mistake.
