STOP using corporate platforms! 🚨🛑

From demanding "real names", official IDs, and face scans destroying pseudonymity,

To carefully keeping track of everyone you interact with,

To tracking everything you do on the internet *outside* these platforms linking it back to your profile without your knowledge,

They will now utilize, process, tag, and judge everything you post to feed their AI models or sell it back to someone else's models.

It will only get *worse* from now.

You have no control whatsoever on what will be done with this AI-compiled profile of you later on.

The only solution to stay safe from their insatiable greed is to leave and delete,
before they eat you whole.

@dez_m011 @Em0nM4stodon No, Mastodon is run by thousands of volunteers, not by corporations. This is social networking rather than social media

@Em0nM4stodon

Been wondering if the verification information you provide to Bluesky using the required Google form is data you really want to be sharing with a corporate entity.

@mastodonmigration @Em0nM4stodon they'll easily ask for your ID too. I got my account suspended after sending my first ever DM to a friend (brilliant moderation on their end). After ignoring like 5 appeals they finally asked for my ID to recover the account. So refreshing.

Don't think so. Not that familiar with AT Protocol, but think PDS is just where the data is stored. @mackuba might know.

@mastodonmigration @noisytoot @Em0nM4stodon @batist3 So, a bit difficult question… You can't have your account suspended the same way as they can with one hosted on a Bluesky PDS when you're hosted on yours. But they can block you on the relay, AppView or labelling service level, depending on the offence. It's hard to say what kind of situation this email specifically describes, I don't think I've seen anyone mentioning such cases on Bluesky.

@mastodonmigration @noisytoot @Em0nM4stodon @batist3 But also, to complicate things more, when you're hosted on your own PDS, they don't know your email address, since that's not information that anyone outside your PDS can access - so they also can't send you any emails like that.

@noisytoot @Em0nM4stodon @mastodonmigration @batist3 last i checked bluesky was 100% centralized identity.

as in it only ever trust itself as a DID (identity) provider. you can then point from your did to a PDS (did:plc) but that's just saving them the cost of hosting some of your data. you're still fully under their authority.

@gcb @Em0nM4stodon @mastodonmigration @batist3 Bluesky also supports did:web, although few people use it.
