People working on Linux or the BSDs (or illumos based OSes, etc), are you using two monitors? And, if so, what do you use them for?
I'm trying to understand if it makes sense to keep two monitors on my desk

@stefano I use two monitors, both ~22". One is on my desk and the other is on a shelf just above the first. Primarily, I use the lower one, as it's more ergonomic to look at continuously for a long time. I mostly use the second for things at which I don't need to look for very long at a time but do so frequently, or things that I might need to see at really short notice and thus don't want to hide underneath other windows (for instance, instant messaging, application logs or reference documents).
Back when my monitors were small, two monitors were useful for frontend and GUI development. Editing code in one and seeing the effect immediately in the other one. However, now I've got a big monitor and I can do split plus my lovely tiling window manager.
It's also useful for translation. But now I just do split. I prefer a big monitor over 2 smaller ones.
Also for gaming, some old games are not good with two monitors in fullscreen. And I had problems.
However, as a niche application, I would liked if I had a secondary 360p monitor with wide view angle to show system status or report. I could see when my computation like ML training or software compilation has ended.
