For this app, we got expertise in design and mobile development, and shared ressources here https://joinpeertube.org/news/share-ressources

Once more, huge thanks to @NGIZero that funded our work here, especially to @nlnet who managed the Entrust program (you guys rock).

@peertube the Google Play and F-Droid both seem to be older versions

@liaizon The F-Droid version is being processed (and obviously, it takes a bit more time than for mega-corporations).

The Google Play Store looks up to date, to me... What "last update date" do you get?

@peertube Hmmm mine is 0.6 and F-Droid says "no update for you my friend" ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™‚๏ธ

@peertube @NGIZero @nlnet I tried to add my personal account but my local instance doesnโ€™t show up. Is there a way to display it when I search it?

@emanuelecariati @NGIZero @nlnet

Depends on where you got the app:

1. iOS: apple's rules have forced us to limit to a strict allowlist (we want to tackle that next, ideally without having to maintain a list)
2. Play Store: you can manually add platforms to the list within your app, and then log on.
3. F-Droid: all platforms indexed by sepiasearch.org are available (you can add other manually)

That's a bummer, but that's the compromise we had to do to get the app approved on their stores.

@liaizon You're good. The app was pre-published a week ago (for bete-tests).

@peertube @NGIZero @nlnet Ah I see, thatโ€™s a bummer. Is there a way to circumvent Appleโ€™s restrictions by distribuiting the official PeerTube app through @altstore ?

@emanuelecariati @NGIZero @nlnet I (hi, I'm Pouhiou) didn't know about @altstore... Thanks for the tip, we're going to learn more about this project!

@peertube
Nice to see things are moving forward! However, some of the logged in behaviors are not how I expected it.

When I'm not logged-in, I can click on different instances and browse their content. I can also search for content across different instances.

However, when I'm logged in on my instance, I can still click on other instances from "Explore" but no content shows. And the search results are only from my own instance.

@peertube I'd love to see a way to get new builds directly through Obtainium. ๐Ÿ˜

@zak It is very, very hard for us to keep up with all the alternative stores.

But if people want to contribute and add it there, our git repo is here https://framagit.org/framasoft/peertube/mobile-application

@brando Thanks for the suggestion, will talk about it with the team!

@peertube @zak You already can. You just need to set "Override source" to "GitLab" since Obtainium can't autodetect it.

Curious if you have a feature request voting place?
