aaaand as if today couldn't get any better, Alpine Linux will soon have support for packaging systemd unit files as subpackages: https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/abuild/-/merge_requests/433

Now we can start upstreaming unit files into Alpine & carry fewer downstream packages πŸ₯³

Thanks @pabloyoyoista, @cas, @jane and many others for over 1 year of work behind this deceptively simple abuild patch.

Shout out to @ariadne for basically enabling us to send a much simpler upstream patch.

yay mkosi now has initial support for ! πŸŽ‰

This is a verrrry important step towards having an immutable pmOS!

Thank you
@daandemeyer and everyone else who reviewed it for your incredible patience and helpfulness, and thank you @cas and Septatrix for the initial work on this that got me started 😁

Happy to invite myself to the European Open Source Academy (I received the formal certificate today, which turns out is signed... by me)

Have you tried self-hosting? It's on Docker. It's literally on Yunohost. It's on Cloudron with ads. You can probably host it on PikaPods. Dude it's on Elestia. It's a Zeabur original. It's on ClawCloud. You can run it on ClawCloud. You can go to ClawCloud and run it. Log onto ClawCloud right now

Sven Slootweg πŸ”œ eth0 ("still kinky and horny anyway")

The npm worm started spreading 5 days ago. 550+ known affected packages so far, including some with millions of downloads per week. Security vendors desperately trying to keep the lists of affected packages up-to-date, with mixed results.

Still zero word from Microsoft, the billion-dollar tech company that runs npm. Not so much as a tweet. After an entire business week. And the only real guidance that the various third-party security companies can provide, is "don't run npm at all until it's resolved".

Incredible.

mozilla has done a lot of misguided stuff lately but they've also made it so that when you hold pull to refresh for long enough a fox appears and waves at you
