The issue I'm seeing is, that criticizing AI for the harm it does equals criticizing a good friend of some and their natural reaction are along the lines of "they are a good person who help me a lot! It can't be!" and it becomes impossible to talk about it, because many, for that reason alone, just don't want to.
And yeah, those AI companies totally exploit this on purpose, I have no doubts about them knowing exactly what they are doing there.
2 weeks ago I gave a talk about postmarketOS at the spring NLUUG (Netherlands Unix Users Group) conference.
It's in English so should be accessible to all!

I spent my time trying to make it better. Not just write code, but find better or at least different ways to do so. Simpler, cleaner, more general, more comprehensible.
What's happening to day is a complete repudiation of everything I was trying to achieve.

But we need AI to make the investors happy!!! ๐
(maybe smth is wrong elsewhere that needs fixing...)
@craftyguy @oausi @postmarketOS
I think this comment is also a very good opportunity to post https://postmarketos.org/state/ again.
A community of volunteers identified an issue on Friday night and got it fixed in under 24h. Honestly, kudos to everybody involved. Anybody thinking such community of volunteers funded by donations that cover an absolutely tiny fraction of the work done (yet are critical for the sustainability of the project) should not be allowed to make mistakes is in my opinion, breaching the social contract under which the work is done.
