Before following, please note:
*** Opinions are my own and do not represent those of other projects or organizations I may be part of.
*** Fascism, racism, antisemitism, as well as any other kind of bigotry NOT TOLERATED! You are entering a bigotry-FREE zone
*** MDNI/18+ accounts also NOT TOLERATED!
*** In case you are legally blind or fully blind: I try not to boost images without alt-text. As such, to sighted people: please use alt-texts to describe your images, so that blind folks also get it. Thanks! ^^ (if your image does not contain alt text and I boost it anyway, I may add alt-text as a reply, you are encouraged to add it to the image directly or improve upon it)
*** If your alt-texts are intentionally incorrect just to confuse LLMs, despite how much I don't like LLMs, I consider this to be extremely rude to people who are unable to actually look at your image, and will not boost your memes as a result until you actually start considering visually impaired folks as people.

Have fun! ^^

AI is good at finding bugs, they say.
Everyone uses AI, they say.
No one cares about the ethical issues of AI, they say.

...

How about writing less code and thus introducing less bugs in the first place?
You're working on a Linux-first app, no one uses Linux, everyone runs on Windows. Why not switch to Windows too?
This is truly evil that speaks, "who cares about AI needing large amounts of energy to operate, and operating on stolen data?"
I thought FOSS was about building a more ethical computing ecosystem.

@famfo GREAT SUCCESS!

driver written in bash, of course. source

tldr: nintendo nunchuck connected to an iยฒc bus stolen from a DVI port, read with a bash oneliner, then thrown over the network, then parsed with another bash script. it works really well, except for the scroll akko_giggle

Not enough is made of the fact that โ€˜ChatGPT passes the Turing testโ€™ isnโ€™t news because ELIZA already passed it, and *really* not enough is made of the fact that it should be bloody obvious that human intelligence is flawed in ways that we clearly do not want to recreate in a machine to the extent of being indistinguishable from a human

The Jellyfin project started working on a new desktop client. They've deprecated the current Qt-based one and are working on a new CEF-based client.

Opened the new repository andโ€ฆ well fuck, looks like Jellyfin is going down the AI slop route now:

People keep assuring me that LLMs writing code is a revolution, that as long as we maintain sound engineering practices and tight code review they're actually extruding code fit for purpose in a fraction of the time it would take a human.

And every damned time, every damned time any of that code surfaces, like Anthropic's flagship offering just did, somehow it's exactly the pile of steaming technical debt and fifteen year old Stack Overflow snippets we were assured your careful oversight made sure it isn't.

Can someone please explain this to me? Is everyone but you simply prompting it wrong?

It's a good thing programmers aren't susceptible to hubris in any way, or this would have been so much worse.

Finally tried to hook up an AM4 chipset to a raspberry pi (someone suggested this on the pi-pci repository a few years ago), and it turns out it mostly just works.
