*** In case you are legally blind or fully blind: I try not to boost images without alt-text. As such, to sighted people: please use alt-texts to describe your images, so that blind folks also get it. Thanks! ^^ (if your image does not contain alt text and I boost it anyway, I may add alt-text as a reply, you are encouraged to add it to the image directly or improve upon it)
*** If your alt-texts are intentionally incorrect just to confuse LLMs, despite how much I don't like LLMs, I consider this to be extremely rude to people who are unable to actually look at your image, and will not boost your memes as a result until you actually start considering visually impaired folks as people.

Have fun! ^^

As a kid, I had a 486DX2-66 computer with a EGA monitor, and I was very frustrated that Windows 95 didn't support it.

I didn't know back then that I could just copy EGA.DRV from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, and it would work. Just don't let Windows detect the hardware, or it might think you have ATI VGA or something, and brick your OS.

Now I'm frustrated that Windows 95 doesn't support CGA drivers from Windows 3; for the reason that Windows 3.1 itself uses CGA, EGAMONO and EGAHIBW written for Windows 3.0.

Of course I tried recompiling the driver with new windows.inc and resources mandatory for Windows 3.1; it didn't help. I suspect this might be related to new GDI features e.g. RC_BIGFONT or RC_PALETTE...

okay, after not getting an answer for an hour on that, I'm officially worried. does anyone have an ACTIVE way to contact wolfman2000/"dance dad" (who used to be on GDQ streams) other than their discord? I strongly suspect their account has been stolen

EDIT: confirmed that it's stolen and confirmed that they're aware

@Logical_Error @cas and it is clear he might have done something for Micay to have his own thread there
(that's also why I'm concerned about his health)

@Logical_Error @cas well having a KF account, no matter the reason, is a huge red flag.

@b @Logical_Error @cas It seems he also got KF involved in the harassment of Micay.

for what it's worth, I *do* think there is too much shit talking in free software, and I think it *has* harmed the mental health of maintainers in general. i don't know what to do about it though.

@GrapheneOS @domi @elly @mei I think trying to mainline things as much as possible could greatly help you in this, then you have only few patches to carry downstream and rebasing becomes easier

@GrapheneOS @domi @elly @mei yep! I'm aware of that, actually used that as an argument in some discussion over on IRC ;)

@GrapheneOS @domi @elly @mei I do know I got LTS updates on mine though, but I don't run the stock OS (wiped it as soon as I got it to install LineageOS instead, yes, I know, not all that great but gets the job done for now)

@GrapheneOS @domi @elly @mei I'm well aware of the EOL 5.4 kernel issue, that's why I'm all for using mainline (maybe with patches to harden security).

Anyway, if said OEM produces phones with the major benefits of my FP5 (good repairability and perhaps good mainline support) I can consider it as my next phone ^^
