iRobot apparently just declared bankruptcy, so if you have an internet connected one and want to retain control if the cloud platform vanishes, take a look at https://github.com/koalazak/dorita980#how-to-get-your-usernameblid-and-password and stash that information somewhere safe (and note that it changes if you ever factory reset the device, so try not to do that)
๐๏ธ In our very timely new podcast episode 46 "Summer Events Special" that we are totally releasing just a few days after it was recorded, @RannyBergamotte, @ollieparanoid, @z3ntu and @linmob talk about Linux Mobile action at #defcon33, #why2025 and #froscon2025, all which took place between August 7 and 17 this year.
We get into how DEF CON in Las Vegas compares to the European events, what it's like to be at a hacker camp, plenty of Linux Mobile talks at FrOSCon, and a lot more!
Special thanks to @tgm for editing (first time editing a postmarketOS podcast episode)! โค๏ธ

I expect BSDisms to be dropped at some point.
The newer FreeBSD pkgbase is slowly getting to being able to upgrade the whole system, so the mess with many tools is solved. It's catching up, really.
Just put all binaries under /usr/bin and have everything else symlink to it, such as /bin, /sbin, /usr/local/bin or whatever. It has been done before.
This whole thing is mostly legacy from when we had very limited storage. Nowadays, we have terabytes on NVMe SSDs, not few kilobytes.
Oh holy moly
Google translate has moved from translating words to predictive text translation
It now gives me redacted texts, in which all the interesting bits have been strained out
Also, numbers are translated as random numbers. A two might be a twelve. Theyโre both numbers, right?
Yesterdayโs version sped me up. Today Iโll have to revert to the slower but at least factually accurate read-it-myself-in-the-original
Sigh.

If a phone still works fine, itโs not โdevice hoardingโ to keep using it. Itโs common sense.
Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.
The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.
You haven't truly lived the life of a #sysadmin until you're googling around to figure out some issue and find a post about it where someone's asking the exact same question and... it's you. You, asking the exact same question ten years ago. And nobody answers.
the g in gobject stands for glib, and the g in glib stands for gtk, and the g in gtk stands for gimp, however the g in gimp stands for gnu, so really the g in glib stands for gnu, but you shouldn't confuse it with gnulib, which is developed by the gnu project, who shouldn't be confused as the developers of glib, which is the gnome project, in which the g also stands for gnu
"We provide (online) services in a country but don't want to comply with the laws there, just US laws, because we are a US company" is following a colonial mindset ๐
Red Hat is pushing AI slop into Fedora relentlessly, because IBM wants it to happen
and telling people to use "apt" in fedora
