why are notifications not working on tusky? grrrrrrr I hate android with a passion
@ariadne
None of the mastodon apps I've used have working notifications, even in the app. I don't know why. The website on my PC seems to work fine.
@ariadne
I have to go to the notifications tab and refresh and then it will show. Blue sky never had this issue.
@ariadne lol I usually get like 4 days worth of tusky notifications at once, I've just been using the website for my instance instead
@ariadne works on my phone
I have LineageOS, no Google or microg and use ntfy for unified push.
it started working, I continue to hate android with a passion
@ariadne LMAO, maybe I need to try Tusky. I've used Fedilab and Pachli so far.
@ariadne fdroid? Unified push? dontkillmyapp.com ?
@ariadne I wish there was something better around. Seems, history repeats itself again. This time we wait for the second coming to liberate our smartphones…
Android (any version) always loses notifications. Some of them more than others: almost never had problems with (FML, was forced on me) WhatsApp. Probably a secret handshake or something.
@ariadne I am periodically tempted to buy an Android-based eink tablet in order to have a programmable but quiet display, and every time I have to ask my self whether I really want to write more code for Android.
Yes. The whole software ecosystem is rotten. But years of discovering and applying workarounds have numbed long-term users like me. So don't listen to us: we're equally unreliable.
(So why don't we switch to Apple? Easy: can't afford it. Happens a lot in countries like mine.)
@angelastella Apple forces you into iCloud, and given the rising tech oligarchy, that seems like a place nobody should be anyway
Agreed then. Didn't know/remember integration had come to that point.
@ariadne Good call. It looks like the Kobo Clara HD is pretty functional [1] though hard to find for sale, and the Pine Note [2] is good and available.

@ariadne Tusky's integration with ntfy is wonky. It'll be working fine for weeks and then suddenly stop until i log out and back in.
@ariadne have you looked at FuriLabs' FuriOS? It's Linux with Android emulation on top. Not 100% free because of chipset maker f*ckery, but mostly so, certainly more than PostmarketOS.
@fazalmajid "certainly more than postmarketOS"?
@ariadne sorry, I was getting it confused with Sailfish OS, which has a largely proprietary UI.
