I’m leaning more and more with women and feminist thinkers, that the B-slur shouldn’t be used by men.
I’m seeing how people freely use it and often they’ll find ways to make it permissible to themselves. If they have a female dog, they’ll call her the B-slur all the time, because it’s a funny misogynist joke to them, they’ve found an avenue where it’s permissible to them to use that word.
Considering how strongly this slur is connected to women, femininity, womanhood, motherhood, and that there’s no male equivalent, men don’t have such a powerful slur targeted only them.
Further, from my perspective, I always find it fucked up when people call their pets all these nasty things, whether the B-slur or simply ‘idiot’ or ‘asshole’. That dog, cat, whatever, is your child, your furbaby. You wouldn’t call a human baby those sorts of things, because it’s not permissible, it’s not socially acceptable.
These hostile attitudes from pet owners are echoed in their behavior towards their pets. I’ve seen the ways people treat their pets when they also call them all sorts of things, like a parent bullying their child, it’s not right.
Another more common way to make this slur permissible, is to use it against a man. Here it is misogyny too, using a slur specifically for women against a man, is targeting his masculinity and placing him in the same category as women, in this patriarchal world, it’s making him lesser than. While also still hurting women and spreading misogyny in the process, even with no women around.
@Tengu
I'm gonna argue that people in general don't intend to use the word that way, it's just an insult like any other. If someone does mean it that way, then they can go fuck themselves.
That being said, if you or someone else doesn't wanna be called the word or hear the word, that's also fine and I'd be accommodating.
while on the topic, you can always let someone else sing the insults for you >:3

@6 @Tengu @Paradox the misogynistic connotations of the word “cunt” appear to be a US-specific thing, it’s not like that in other parts of the world (and I have never interpreted it that way)
