I took my #Fairphone4 out for a test drive at #dufferinmall with its new mainline kernel camera support in #postmarketos conjured up by @z3ntu. Yay!
My son's discerning opinion was that the photos look like the 90s. Definitely reminds me of 4x6" prints from a disposable camera with perhaps a little CCTV to spice things up.
Anyways, I'd love to help troubleshoot if someone could point me in the right direction. I don't have much programming experience, but I could be considered linux poweruser.

Have these photos been altered in any way, like sent via text, or something? I have a fp4 and I'm totally happy with mine. And I've tried both camera, the Fairphone stock camera and the Murena eOS camera...both versions good - at least to my eyes.

In PMos, the cam doesn't use the closed-source Android driver written by the manufacture, but rather a reversed-engineered open-source Linux driver. The Gnome Camera app Snapshot used in PMos may be an issue too. It doesn't control focus, exposure, white balance. Unsure what is driver or app related. There are very few smartphone cams with "Linux driver", so the app hasn't been developed much. My FP4 cam works fine in Ubuntu Touch, see @Homsi But MMS-look is great name, too.

@pft I used to have a Lomo ActionSampler Clear, which takes one picture with four lens. Be cool if we could hack that functionality into the Fairphone 4 with its 3 lens.

@robho @z3ntu I am a member of the testing team for PmOS on FP4 and I was experiencing random shutdowns of the phone when using the camera. Did it happen to you as well? It happened to me on Plasma Mobile and Phosh.

@apollo3zehn @z3ntu It did at first, but then I reinstalled pmOS from scratch and it has been working fine since then. I had all sorts of things I didn't need installed before because I was trying out different GUIs, so I think that led to problems, not only with the camera.
