@elly what has started? AI and recall wasn't a thing 11 years ago and they didn't remove any UI functionality in Windows 10 afaik (maybe except old msthemes)

@pj yes, but pushing spyware, online accounts/ads started in Win 10. I remember when people found that beta builds of Windows 10 were taking periodic screenshots of your desktop and uploading them to microsoft's servers, at some point it even had a keylogger that sent your keyboard inputs as well.

Somehow... people completely forgot that happened and attributed it to beta builds but it still wasn't okay

oof no, they were already in Win8/8.1, Win10 only inherited the metro squares in menu and account bullshit

I do not count telemetry as spyware, but it also appeared in Win8 (Win10 has application that will show you all the data it collects: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/privacy/diagnostic-data-viewer-overview) though I would agree that Cortana is spyware and it appeared in Win10

@pj @elly Windows 8.1 was already bad in 2013 and caused some users to stay on 7 or quit to linux or macOS. Vista was also pretty bad. 10 went worse. 11 went way, way worse.
